So You Booked a Session… Now What?

One of the best parts of my job is getting that “we’re officially booked!” message. It means I get the chance to tell your story—whether that’s a senior year, a growing baby bump, a sweet anniversary, or just life as it is right now.

But I know it can feel a little like jumping into the unknown, especially if you’ve never had professional photos taken before. So let me walk you through what happens after you book—because trust me, you’re not just showing up and hoping for the best.

It all starts with the vision. Whether it’s a quick phone chat or a few DMs back and forth, I always ask what you’re hoping for. Do you want warm and cozy? Playful and candid? More posed or totally relaxed? Your vibe shapes how I plan your session—from the location to the pacing to the way I prompt you.

Once we’re getting close, I send over a guide to help you prep—things like outfit tips, what to bring, how to calm nerves, and little ways to feel more confident in front of the camera. I don’t expect you to know how to “pose”—that’s my job. You just show up, be yourself, and we create something together.

And then the magic happens. We meet up, laugh a little, maybe chase the sun or dodge a Kansas breeze, and create photos that actually feel like you.

So if you’ve ever wondered what happens after you click “book,” the answer is: we start building something real, something meaningful, something that lasts longer than the scroll.

Can’t wait to capture your story.
